Vintage Olds Trombone Pat April 2 1912 Los Angeles Etched With Mouthpiece

Offered is a vintage Olds Trombone.

The instrument shows a bit of light tarnish on the bell, and I have not polished it, leaving that to the next owner.

Other than the need to be polished, I do not have any damage to report. No dents, no scrapes.  It plays great, and seems to be in very nice condition.

Serial Number M 4598 is marked on the slide.

Serial Number 4499 is marked on the section with the Bell

Based on information on line (F.E. Olds and Son Serial Numbers)  indicates that it was made, I believe,  between 1923 and 1925

The mouthpiece is marked “EQUA-TRU” and “H. N. White Co.” with the number “28”

The bell is 6 1/2 inches in diameter.

The main slide moves smoothly, the tuning slide is stuck and I have not done anything to free it.  I do not see any damage.

The case, while it is effective at protecting the instrument, is showing its age with a taped handle and some exterior wear and scrapes.

Accompanying the Trombone is a copy of “Foundation to Trombone Playing” by Fred L. Blodgett and Edwin Franko Goldman

Copyrighted 1916, this copy is a revised edition from 1932.  It has separated at the spine, but the contents are intact.  The book is 12 x 9 inches and contains 106 pages.

Also included is a container of “SLIKSTUF Slide Oil with a dropper.  This bottle is about 1/4 full.

And, a new, never opened container of Conn Slide Cream.  This container is about 1 3/4 inches tall and 1 3/4 inches in diameter.

Brass instruments are a challenge to photograph.  This is in really nice condition.
