Vintage 1917 Holton Valve Trombone With Original Case / Trumpet Players

Vintage Holton Valve Tromboneserial # 40XXXYou will really enjoy playing this trombone.  The valves are light and quick and it has a nice sound.   The bell has been relacquered in the past, so the inscription is a little hard to read.   You can make out  the word “special” proceeded by a word that is hard to make out.  Also inscribed is ” Made By Frank Holton”, Elkhardt  Ind.The serial number on the valve cluster is 40373 which indicate a manufacturing date on 1917.  It is interesting that the valve cluster also reads FRANK HOLTON, Chicago.    Holton made their trombones in Chicago until the late fall of 1917 and moved the factory to Elkhardt in the early spring of 1918 which explains why the bell was manufactured in Elkhardt and the body was manufactured in Chicago.  The condition of this horn is amazing for its vintage.  There are no large dents though there is evidence of minor dent removal.  There are a couple of very small indentations in the bell, there is missing lacquer so it looks used, however the horn is straight, plays nicely and is really cool.  I love the way the body attaches to the bell.   There is a movable hook that goes over the bell brace.    Included is the original case, very used but still viable.   Also included is a used mouthpiece so you can enjoy the horn right out of the case. The low rate flat shipping is for the lower 48 US states only.  All others should request a shipping quote.Your vintage valve trombone will be professionally packaged with great care and will usually be shipped within one business day of receiving cleared payment.  Thank You!!
